Zoo

Haven't been to the Zoo in years!   We decided to take the grands on an outing ... 

 

It was still the same!

 

 

 

Camping with the grandkids ...

Back in the spring, we took the grandkids camping up on Monte Sano - it was a fun weekend ... here's the proof  :)

We had a good time.

I got snubbed ...

So, I went into Chicos, not a store I usually shop at, actually never shopped at, it must have showed.  I went in with a friend who needed to return something.   I apparently had that "thrift store shopper" look - which by the way I am and quite proud of it - so the clerks didn't pay me much attention.  I wandered through the store while my friend was doing her business and actually found a couple of things I wanted to purchase (on sale plus an extra 40% off) and took it up to the counter, where a clerk was standing. I placed my items on counter and waited.  Finally she looked at me and then looked away and called out to someone else to come up front .. Must not be her job to run cash register even though her hands were in one ... So this other clerk comes up and goes behind counter, I move over in front of her push my items over to her register and she looks up but at another young lady who has come up behind me ... She lights up like a Christmas tree and goes into hellos -by the way no they don't know each other- and how can I help you ... the young lady goes into what she is looking for ... Whatever .. And the clerk actually walks out from behind  the counter and leaves me standing there with my purchases on counter, wallet in hand and mouth open and facial expression showing "what the ....", to help this new person.

Now let me describe the new person.  She was beautiful.  Tall, beautiful long glossy brown hair, dressed like a Chico advertisement, boots, short classy shorts, cute blousy top with a fur scarf (identical to one in their store). She was gorgeous and looked ... We'll expensively put together.  All the total opposite of me.

Another very nice clerk (Dawn) noticed and came right over and took care of me, she saw what happened and kind of went out of her way to be extra nice.

But, I walked away with that feeling of, well, what's the words ... Just not quite feeling good enough.  Old drabby frumpy dumpy etc etc etc. 

Then I just got aggravated at myself for letting letting a silly clerk get to me that way.

Chicos must work on commission.  

Wish I could do the Julia Roberts/Pretty Woman thing to her ...

Gotta go now, I'm sure there's a thrift store out there calling my name!  And their clerks will treat me right!

Fall~~

Got inspired to dress my home for fall ...  Here's a little of what I did, made a wreath, made one for mom too, and then just kinda spread the "fall" around ...

Isn't it beautiful?  Squash relish canned by me (and my friend Ann). My first canning. I feel like such a grown up!

I was sitting in my backyard 2 nights ago "contemplating the universe" when a small plane flew above my yard and proceeded to do Barrell rolls , backward rolls, sideways ... The whole works It was a pretty cool show!

I don't like it ...

Just for the record, I do not like that McDonalds post calories beside all of their menu items.  I mean, really, if I go into a McDonalds there is already a certain bit of guilt and self flagellation involved and then to have to face the cold hard facts in black and white of all of the calories you will consume just because you have to fulfill your craving for a mcD's fish square sandwich ... Well it's just wrong.  

...  I find that if I concentrate I can make my vision blur so the calorie info  is just some fuzzy markings on the wall ...    

Peaceful Plowing

I took Mom out for a drive in the country last night. It was so pretty and it stays light for so long it just seemed a shame to waste  the evening inside.  We were deep in farming country when I saw this farmer out plowing his field.  I had to stop and watch him for a while and envy his peaceful plow time. Just him, the plow and the land. No dogs running around needing fed or played with. No dinner to cook. No dishes to wash. No laundry calling your name. No TV playing in the background. No phone. Just him, the plow and the land. Peaceful plowing. Made me envious.

I went to see Spank ... Which was not good.  I think you had to have read the 50 shades to get the humor and neither Gary nor I had so we were lost and had we not been with a group would have got up and left ...

I went back to the beach to help my friend get her house ready to turn it into a rental.  We stayed a week and worked a lot and played a little ...

I worked in my garden ... 

And went to a cool concert at Lowe Mill ...

All not necessarily in that order ...

Ever hear/read a word much it goes into your word hate file? My word hate for the day is "yummo".

A much needed break ....

Vacation ... 7 days days at the beach. I am exhausted. I've worked Late everyday for the past month and worked all last weekend. Plus I've been sicker than I've ever been with some sort of upper respiratory problem for the past 15 days. Had to make an ER trip to my airway doc and I've been on antibiotics and steroids for at least 20 days ... I needed this time off and if I do nothing but laze around and enjoy the beach and read a good book ill be happy.

We took the dogs ... They just make me happy to have them with me ...

I'm feeling better already ...

Lovely weekend ...

This past weekend was spent with some of my best friends. We laughed, shared our lives some, celebrated L's quick home sale, some painted, some scrap booked and some did both. We had awesome food that we didn't have to cook or clean up after, we had beautiful weather and glorious views of smith lake from all windows. We even found a little time to go thrifting. All in all, a great weekend.

I've had two weekends filled with children and its been great! First my grandchildren came and spent the night and we played candy land, painted, Gary rode them them around the yard on a 4 wheeler and the romped with the dogs and we were all exhausted when it came time to take them home.

The next weekend my sis and two of her granddaughters came for the night. It was a day of shopping dining silly string birthday cake presents make up hair cards and movie watching. And painting. And again total exhaustion. But in a good way!

Shower caps ... Yes I am old!

I bought a shower cap today. Saw it and thought Wow I really need this. Bought it, tried it on when I got home, looked in the mirror and saw my mom from the 1960s staring back at me.

Well at least hers wasn't a cool leopard print. That made me feel a little better. I think.
