I was sitting in my backyard 2 nights ago "contemplating the universe" when a small plane flew above my yard and proceeded to do Barrell rolls , backward rolls, sideways ... The whole works It was a pretty cool show!

I don't like it ...

Just for the record, I do not like that McDonalds post calories beside all of their menu items.  I mean, really, if I go into a McDonalds there is already a certain bit of guilt and self flagellation involved and then to have to face the cold hard facts in black and white of all of the calories you will consume just because you have to fulfill your craving for a mcD's fish square sandwich ... Well it's just wrong.  

...  I find that if I concentrate I can make my vision blur so the calorie info  is just some fuzzy markings on the wall ...    

Peaceful Plowing

I took Mom out for a drive in the country last night. It was so pretty and it stays light for so long it just seemed a shame to waste  the evening inside.  We were deep in farming country when I saw this farmer out plowing his field.  I had to stop and watch him for a while and envy his peaceful plow time. Just him, the plow and the land. No dogs running around needing fed or played with. No dinner to cook. No dishes to wash. No laundry calling your name. No TV playing in the background. No phone. Just him, the plow and the land. Peaceful plowing. Made me envious.

I went to see Spank ... Which was not good.  I think you had to have read the 50 shades to get the humor and neither Gary nor I had so we were lost and had we not been with a group would have got up and left ...

I went back to the beach to help my friend get her house ready to turn it into a rental.  We stayed a week and worked a lot and played a little ...

I worked in my garden ... 

And went to a cool concert at Lowe Mill ...

All not necessarily in that order ...

Ever hear/read a word much it goes into your word hate file? My word hate for the day is "yummo".

A much needed break ....

Vacation ... 7 days days at the beach. I am exhausted. I've worked Late everyday for the past month and worked all last weekend. Plus I've been sicker than I've ever been with some sort of upper respiratory problem for the past 15 days. Had to make an ER trip to my airway doc and I've been on antibiotics and steroids for at least 20 days ... I needed this time off and if I do nothing but laze around and enjoy the beach and read a good book ill be happy.

We took the dogs ... They just make me happy to have them with me ...

I've had a lovely mohito ...

And dinner at the Red Bar ...

I'm feeling better already ...

Lovely weekend ...

This past weekend was spent with some of my best friends. We laughed, shared our lives some, celebrated L's quick home sale, some painted, some scrap booked and some did both. We had awesome food that we didn't have to cook or clean up after, we had beautiful weather and glorious views of smith lake from all windows. We even found a little time to go thrifting. All in all, a great weekend.

I've had two weekends filled with children and its been great! First my grandchildren came and spent the night and we played candy land, painted, Gary rode them them around the yard on a 4 wheeler and the romped with the dogs and we were all exhausted when it came time to take them home.

The next weekend my sis and two of her granddaughters came for the night. It was a day of shopping dining silly string birthday cake presents make up hair cards and movie watching. And painting. And again total exhaustion. But in a good way!

Shower caps ... Yes I am old!

I bought a shower cap today. Saw it and thought Wow I really need this. Bought it, tried it on when I got home, looked in the mirror and saw my mom from the 1960s staring back at me.

Well at least hers wasn't a cool leopard print. That made me feel a little better. I think.

Wishing for coolness and comfort

I was hot all day. I was also wearing the worlds most uncomfortable bra. Both of which made me irritable all day ...

Remember when it snowed so big a couple of years ago ... I need a lovely cold snow day ... with comfortable undergarments.

PS: Bra is in the trash. Would have burned it but it wasn't worth the trouble!

Bone burying

I've always thought it was so cute to watch a dog bury a bone. I've never had a dog to do this ... Until now. We recently took in my moms dog and this morning I gave her a chew bone and watched from the window as she circled the yard with the bone in her mouth and came to rest in my perineal garden dig a hole, most likely bruising the tender shoots resting for the winter under that same ground, drop her bone and cover it back up.

Fascinating. Do they remember where they bury it?

We celebrated mom's 84th birthday this last Saturday ... She's just lovely in every way!

Drakes

Went to Drakes this week with friends ... It was good, a little loud but my food was good and I would definitely go again.

Fun in Nashville ...

Made Gary happy and went to Nasville to the Easy Riders Bike Show, lots of black leather, lots of tatoos everywhere, old bikers with their long grey hair pony tailed and goatees and some with beards so long and thick they had braids in them, girls dancing on a stage, Michael and Angie from the Full Throttle bar in Sturgus, SD were there giving autographs and hugs, and most of all motorcycles everywhere, beautiful bikes ... It was really kind of cool, interesting, surprising and exhausting!

We ended the day with dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory ... Fabulous dinner!

Outside my window

Here is this dreary looking day outside my window .... Would be so easy to let a day like this depress you. BUT - I am listening to Sandi Patty croon "amazing grace how sweet the sound, amazing love now flowing down, from hands and feet that we nailed to the tree, his grace flows down to cover me". Hard to be depressed when you hear that being sung so sweetly ...
